In this course, students will develop an appreciation for music by listening to a wide variety of music, and by reading and writing about music as an expression of who we are, and how it makes us feel, move, dance, and respond.The text, “Music! Its Role and Importance In Our Lives”, will be employed f or the curriculum.Another important component of the course is that each student must choose to learn acoustic guitar, keyboard, or, a few may select electric bass. Note-reading is taught through the playing of the above instruments. There is no background in music necessary and no prerequisite. (1/2 unit)
Music In Our Live II (Spring)
This is a continuation of the MIOL II. Students will explore how people create music, how it has been used to understand life’s meaning, and how music is used in political and social movements. Students will also learn about creating music with technology, and about current trends in today’s music. As in MIOL I, students will continue their study on the instrument of their choice, guitar, keyboard, or electric bass. The text, “Music! Its Role and Importance In Our Lives” will be employed for the curriculum. Prerequisite: none, although it is strongly recommended that the student takes MIOL I, first.
